A five-week group developed at Harvard Medical School. This cognitive behavioral skills group teaches participants the skills to improve difficulty falling and/or staying asleep. Includes sleep medication reduction techniques (participant should talk with their provider before any changes in prescription medication).
Participants learn and follow the protocol outlined in Say Good Night to Insomnia: The Six-Week, Drug-Free Program Developed at Harvard Medical School. This Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) program has been shown to improve sleep in 75-80% of insomnia patients and reduces or eliminates sleeping pill use in 90% of patients. In three major studies that directly compared CBT-I to sleeping pills, CBT-I was more effective than sleeping pills. CBT-I also has no side effects and maintains improvements in sleep long-term.
5 weekly group sessions, 2 hours each
