Anxiety can affect anyone at any time. It is one of the most common mental health issues in the United States. Many people deal with anxiety on a daily basis. Anxiety concerns often co-occur with symptoms of mood disturbance, insomnia, and physical health concerns. There are many different types of anxiety, including generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, and social anxiety. Left untreated, anxiety can have severe consequences on your social life, work-life, and personal relationships.
Overwhelming research shows that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most effective treatment for anxiety problems. CBT is an evidence-based approach that has been proven effective in addressing various mental health disorders, including anxiety. CBT is based on the premise that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. Empowered Pathways offers two counseling groups for anxiety.
This group is an introduction to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety. You will learn about your anxiety, what may be causing it, and how CBT treatment will work. CBT is an evidence-based treatment that involves modifying thoughts and behaviors to help people feel better and move toward their life aims.
Group UP (Unified Protocol) is a research-supported treatment designed to help patients who find their emotions are getting in the way of their day-to-day life, especially patients who experience more than one emotion-related problem (e.g., depression and anxiety). Research has demonstrated that clients who engage in the UP not only show marked improvement during treatment, but also continue to maintain and even further improve upon their progress after they transition out of therapy. This is thought to be because the UP goes beyond helping you in the moment to also teach you how to internalize these skills to serve you throughout life.
